Hi !

I have a 358 2008

I always have water in my hull. One week end I clean it perfectly. then after a ride I saw again water in my hull ! humm.
After investigation I saw that both cases on the swimplatform have a hole and redirect the water in the hull.
So I put a plug in both cases. Clean up the hull again ,an other ride after, Still water in my hull ! grrr

In the engine room there are fiberglass beam and the water come from the hose that is on the external beam , starboard and port side.
This hose im pretty sure is "connected" to the swimplatforms cases.
Why even I block the hole in the case I still get water from this hoses ?

any ideas or experience ?

thanks

When you say cases, what are you referring to? The small storage compartments on each side of the platform?

With regard to the water in the bilge - I'm assuming you are referring to the large fiberglas stringers where the motor mounts are. Each one has a drain tube that (apparently) enables water on the high side of the stringer to drain into the center bilge. I get water flowing in from these tubes also. I have no idea where it comes from. Sometimes the flow includes vegetation - perhaps chopped up weeds?

Crazy thing is that the water is not always flowing in. Sitting in the slip, the bilge pump is not constantly cycling on/off. It's almost as if the water level (or pressure?) stabilizes.

I have vacuumed the bilge dry only to see water flowing in from the tubes. Then after a while it stops. I usually have 1/2" to 1" of water in the center bilge area.

exactly ,im reffering the small storage compartments on the swimplatform, there is a hole inside to evacuate water accumulation.

There is an hose on both side (engine room). That hose is located in the fiberglass trust yes, but not the one that is build to evacuate the water from stringers to stringers. the output hose is located just below the generator or port side and just below the tank heater on starboard side.
there is water coming from that hole/hose. Where does it come even I block my storage compartement on my swmiplatform ?

I should have picture...

thanks

The two "storage lockers" on the walking surface of the swim platform have drain connected to small hoses which connect to a drain on the starboard side of the hull. They should not leak into the bilge unless the hoses are damaged. And then blocking the drain would solve that. So I don't think your water is coming from the those lockers.

The big storage locker in the transom and the smaller electrical locker, drain on the swim platform, so those should not leak into the bilge.

I always have a small amount of water in my bilge as well. My best guess is the water comes from the fishing rod holders, they are not covered. Water running down the rear canvas naturally flows into these holders.

The other place I suspect, but only in heavy rains is the seam between the swim platform and the transom. As you know the transom is part of the engine hatch so there is a seam at the base where it moves. This drains into the lip that the engine hatch sits on. This lip drains on to the swim platform, but a lot of water may over flow this into the engine room and the bilge.

Agree with jrcinnh regarding the swim platform drainage. I will have to check on the hoses you're describing. Don't know if I have them on my boat.

Will do a test this week end. I will add some food colorant in the water located in the 2 storage compartement and will remove the plug I installed, will see if the water that come in my bilge is red or blue or green.

or an other good test will be to "inject" water in the hose (located in the engine room) and see where its overflow outside.

Will also post some pictures.

thanks

Yannick I looked at the area you mentioned. I don't have a hose there.

I have a hose on both side, stardboard and port.

V358 2008

I put some food colorant in my water tank. Last week end I ride and found again a small amount of water (not colored). Water does not come from my water tank because if so i should have some red water in my hull. Now my strategy is too put water in the hose.

the only way to know where goes that hose will be to remove my heater tank (nah!) remove the vaccuflush system (Nah!) remove the plymood (Nah!).

If you have any ideas how to troubleshoot that, your welcome.
thanks everybody.
