Picking it up in the next day or so, so will tell you exactly how much it cost later this week.

Daz - $450 including changing the oil in the outdrive. 3.3 hours of labour. A bit more than I was expecting considering I supplied the bellows. Oh well, that's boating I guess....

Thanks Alec.
Was the gimble bearing & engine alignment ok?
p.s. What is the engine alignment between & does it often move over time? :?

Yes. Bought in in Feb. Had a small problem with the wiring loom on the first outing but they fixed that. Had to get one from the USA.
Haven't had much time with it yet. Mainly Gippsland lales and the bay

G'day Liquidenoir (that's quite a handle!)

Welcome aboard, although I'm only new myself. Has the Vic weather thrown you a bone recently? How often do you get out? We've had ours out only once in the past 6 weeks. Staring to get withdrawals! The waters around Bunbury are fantastic for cruising. There is almost always a sheltered spot regardless of which way the wind is blowing (unless of course it's doing 30 knots). Plus we are fortunate enough to have one of the best Dolphin action areas in the world. I took some amazing video of them riding our wake during our last trip out.

Where is your fav spot to go? Drop a pic of the boat when you can. If you struggle to figure out how to post pics (like I did), go to page 24 of this thread and see a post from Giffo on July 22. He explains how to do it.

Cheers

Thanks Jabac.
Haven't got many photos . Must get a good one and try and submit it. Did read it was a bit tricky but one of my boys would be able to do it a lot quicker than me.
Went out at St Kilda about 6 weeks ago. A perfect sunny still day (not many of those in winter), did the cruise up the Yarra and gave the boat it's first WOT out in the bay. I'm impressed. I was told it handled like a go cart on water and it does.
Gippsland Lakes best spot so far. Looking forward to getting to Lake Eildon in October. Haven't been there for 20 years.

Cheers.

Sounds awesome. Whilst there are a few, WA lacks the big lakes and rivers that you guys enjoy over east. Must be nice to enjoy a boat clean off the showroom floor. I'm pretty fanatical about keeping this one clean - I would be downright obsessed if it were a brand spanker.

What sort of speed do you get at WOT? I know what you mean about the handling. Before the H240 I had a 19' Ebbtide with 225hp Volvo. It was the closest thing to a go-cart on water I had ever experienced. Mind you, even this boat is pretty sharp in the handling department and with 320 horse, it will ALMOST touch 60 MPH at full noise on the right water. (fuel gauge moves almost as quick  )

Welcome aboard Liquidenoir. Where in Melbourne are you? Same here as far as boating venues - the bay (either at Newport or Patto River), Gippsland lakes (Paynesville), sometimes Merimbula, and get up as far as Batemans Bay in NSW. Only rarely go to Eildon - it's a bit of a zoo up there and few people that actually follow any sort of boating rules which makes things a little dangerous!

Tons of experience on this website and everyone is willing to provide advice and assistance.

I think us Melbournians might be leading the way with the numbers of FW boats! May just have to start a string "Melbourne Four Winns Owners"

Daz - my gimble bearing and alignment were all OK. I guess the rubber engine mounts can change over time as things settle - that's why they check this at the 20 hour service.

So now everythings done - new battery, engine serviced, checked exhaust risers, new bellows, outdrive serviced. Just waiting on the weather, then it's "Thunderbirds are Go!"

Hi to all.
Nice to feel so welcome. Didn't expect to get such an immediate response. I'll be attempting to follow your directions Steve and get a pic or two tonight (might be late..)
I'm based out in the eastern suburbs so it's a pretty good run to the peninsula. Martha Cove has been very handy, has a great ramp and a good coffee shop/cafe.
Hastings also a good spot if you haven't been there.
I'm sticking with the better ramps at this stage as tow vehicle is 2wd. Just deciding what 4wd to buy

Have had a few days at Metung. Hard to beat that. Private mooring at the resort..
We're staying at Painsville for the Melbourne cup weekend.

Have friends in Sydney, so we'll probably do the big tow up there next year.

That's enough crap. Must get on with the photos.

Cheers

Graham

Hi Everyone,

I have just purchased a 2004 Four Winns H190 with a 5L Volvo Penta GL-E V8. I have been looking for a boat for a long time now, this is my first boat, and have been trawling these forums for the last few months picking up some great advice. Just saw this thread and now, since I actually own a boat, thought I'd say G'day.

I'm based down Pt Lonsdale outside of Geelong. Plan on taking the boat around the bay, Bellarine and even over to the Mornington Peninsula side of things. It'd have to be faster than the ferry. Nagambie is quite nice along the Goulburn River too and you can do your own winery tour from Tahbilk to Mitchelton along the river. Both cellar doors are accessible just up from where you can tie your boat up. Not a bad thing to do on a nice afternoon. Also looking at going up around Lake Eildon and Gough's Bay. You can pull your boat up to the Jamieson Pub and have lunch and a few beers and then wind your way back to wherever you launched.

So much water around Victoria. Very exciting time to own a boat! As long as the snow doesn't melt and flood everywhere should be a good start to summer!

Let me know if anyone has any tips for Aussie owners of imported Four Winns or any events etc... I have just made a post in the "engine" section with some questions as a first boat owner so hopefully get some advice from that thread. And if anyone has any good spots to launch and go for a nice cruise be much appreciated.

Matt
