The head on our 278 Vista had never been used by the previous owner until we bought it. Seriously. Its a 1997.

We dont use the "wet flush" option. Instead, I use water from the shower (fresh clean water) to flush the head. However, when we pump the head it takes away the waste but it flushes the bowl with the same water/stuff its taking away  and then the bowl fills itself back up with whatever you flushed away earlier, over an hour period of time. I find myself constantly being reminded of what was flushed away earlier (major yuckage) and constantly pumping the handle on the head to clear it out again. Ive tried the wet flush option, where it takes lake water from the seacock and no difference in operation. Actually, with all of the water, it makes it worse.

I figure the seals or whatever dried out from 15 years of non use. I put some of that marine head lube in there with no difference. Where do I start to fix this problem?

Haha!! That would be funny (and kind of gross).

I pumped out the head 2 weeks ago. The holding tank is 99% empty. I flushed some #1 down with some water and after about an hour, the bowl is half full again with it.

FWIW, I never let the tank get past 1/2. Too much yuck yuck to be lugging around...lol.

Ive read on the web a lot about joker/choker valves and such on the Jabsco toilets. Anybody have to replace/clean theirs? Or anybody have this kind of problem?

Sounds to me like it might be a pressure problem, I would first check the holding tank vent to make sure its clear and not allowing pressure to build up in the tank so as not to let waste get in and therefore pushing it back. There could be a total or partial blockage of the waste pipe to the tank causing the same problem. After checking all the obvious, you can get a replacement valve and plunger kit, as they probably need renewing as they may not be allowing the pressure to build up enough to get the waste to the tank.

I thought that would be too easy!

But yes, sound like a blockage that why I asked when it was last pumped out.

If you are going to rebuild the pump. Look into replacing it with an electric one. I did, works great. It pumps water in & waste out at the same time or just pumps it out if needed.

I guess I never considered a blockage as the holding tank does fill up when you pump the handle. It just seems like a check valve is letting stuff back "up" into the toilet.
