So I bought my new to me/used boat in May. Not a blemish on this boat.. And I have been having the summer of my life with my new toy. So last Saturday we were out on our boat and we had brough a few friends and family members along...Had an amazing day on the water. Sunday I was taking putting the boat back in the water and I was taking off the front bow cover and low and behold...A "Cigarette Burn" on my front bow seat cushion....SUPER PISSED!!! I didnt see anyone smoking. But I was in the water quite a bit..But I know one of our family members does... So... my question.... without laying a smach down on this family member... Any fixes? Besides buying a complete new cushion???

I do not have any cigarette burns but my boats seats are starting to separate where the piping runs down the center. had the canvas/seat guy at my marina look at it and only fix is to recover the seats. So I would see how much it will cost to have it recovered. I am guessing $200 - $250.

I had a guy in TN that I had recover one of my jump seat cutions, and make the other( po lost it on the road) it cost me $120 for both. He said he could do the whole boat for 1500.

Any honest vinyl shop can replace just un sew the bad vinyl section and throw in a new one. I had a local guy redo the tops of my bow back cushions. They were two toned, gray on top/white on bottom. The gray got all crusty from the sun. All 4 cushions with the top half replaced $140 out the door.

Just the gray replaced with new, the white is original to the boat.

So if you just need a section replaced, take the seat off and bring it to a vinyl shop. I wouldn't pay over $40

Scott, check in the yellow pages. There are vinyl repair people out there. Infact, I have a buddy in the thousand islands who does this full time. The repair is invisible and stronger than prior to the repair. He's mobile and charges like 30 bux an inch. See if you have that service locally and also inquire with some car dealerships who they use since my buddy basically caters to dealerships.

Don't try one of those 3-M repair kits. I tried one once and it was garbage.

I run a Used Car Dept......I am not sure who does it in Canada, but this is absolutely correct. there are people that repair burns for so much less than new covers. We do it all the time. You will be amazed how much stuff can be repaired.

I feel your pain...we just got back from a week long house boat trip, and I have my first case's of dock rash.

Remove the family member that smokes, and replace with a new one that doesn't smoke.
