I haven't done much trouble shooting this one, other than to know it's not a problem with the engine.

I was running on the Muddy Mo today fat, dumb and happy about 15 min into our outing. I suddenly noticed the temp showed 250F (top peg). I do watch my gages, so I know it wasn't there a short time before, plus no alarms sounded. I dropped back to idle and checked a few things such as hand on risers, ect to verify the reading was not correct; and opened one of my ports and saw water shooting out under pressure, telling me the impeller is working. As I was contemplating turning back, I remembered I have my Rinda scanner/reader and hooked it up. Temp from the ECU showed norm varying a few degrees around 150F. Repeatedly tapping the dash will now occasionally give me an eroneous temp indication (full peg), and back to about 175F.

Now, I am confident I have a sender or indication issue.
First I will look for a loose connection in the back of the dash, and maybe follow the wires back toward the ECU, since it appears the ECU is reading the correct temperature.
Question... Are there separate senders for the dash indication, and the ECU so I can test and verify OK (probably not);
If so, which is which.

Any other thoughts/avenues?

I can't help with much but I know there are 2 senders. The gauges are probably Faria. Lifetime warranty.

I just replaced the temperature sensor in my 5.7 Gi.... I put a heat gun on the engine and everything on my temp gauge was reading 25 degrees higher. Replace the sensor. On the 5.7 Gi, this is where the t-stat is located and everything is reading normal.

Found the ground lug a little loose to the 4-in-1 gage today. I'll check again next outing to see if that solves it. Really hope that's the reason my gas gauge doesn't ever read worth a crap too!

Fixed the lug, and replaced the sender. Still no joy. Rang out the wire from the dash to the sender at about 0.3 Ohms. Thinking it's the gage. I did check and find sending unit resistance values for virtually all of Faria's Gages. Thought I would share that very useful tidbit.

??????
I'll take what you are smoking, Ric

I don't understand how they can call it a "lifetime warranty" when according to Faria's website, there is a 3 yr limited warranty (I am at 5) then I can pay $50 plus shipping both ways to have them repair.

Just got my gauge back from Faria repair. The rapair was $57 including shipping/handling. The temp part reads correct, as does fuel level, and oil pressure. Too bad it reads 18V when hooked up to 12V. I especially love the idea that it takes me about an hour to remove my dash to get at that dang multi-function gauge.

Anyone else have any "unsatisfactory" dealings with Faria? I'll try to send them a positive, politely worded email, and anotate my problem. Wish me luck, I hate to have another $57 in this gauge.

I sent both my multi gauges back this past winter, and just reinstalled them yesterday.
I won't know for a couple more weeks if they actually calibrated them like they say

Jeff.
As i think you know i sent mine back beginning of last season. After using them all last season they were sent back again (no cost) other then shipping because two of the four indicators on one gauge didn't work right. We will see this year. As for removing them it was easier the second time around. See you next month.
