We saw this freighter leaving port on his way across the lake Saturday morning, 45 miles from Milwaukee these were filmed. Glad we were not out that far on the lake.

We keep seeing the warnings in the marine forecast lately. In the one shot it looked like there was 8-10 of them at one time :shock: Cool video thanks for posting it!

Yes, basically that is what they are. There were 9 confirmed sightings on Saturday. Winds can reach 40 to 60 knots in a waterspout.

We had a big water spout on Georgian Bay on August 12th, I saw the video on youtube, pretty scary. Thankfully we were not anywhere near it, but it did go right past an anchorage bay we occationally use on Christian Island.
