4.3GL (carb) is 190hp.

Worth? 7-9k, depending on how nice it is and what extras it came with. What you listed is standard, not considered anything extra. Would require pictures to give you an honest opinion. Just like in the car world, stereo upgrades don't really add any value to a boat. That's just considered routine maintenance.

here is the posting its all I have for pics. Was the H190 avail with a VP 4.3 in 220 HP or only the 190 - could engine possibly be a 5.0??? Tried the FW site for the old brocures/spec sheets but nothing come up. The dash-instm panel is new, he said he replaced the original panel because it was an all in one design?

Thanks

The 5.0 is 8 cylinders, the 4.3 is 6 cyl.

Four Winns had the spec sheets and owners manuals on their web-site until about a month ago when they revised the site. Now they only have owners manuals back 10 years.
There is supposed to be some old information on http://www.fourwinns.net/bruchure or http://www.fourwinns.net/ownman but I cannot get those pages to open.
You should be able to email Four Winns and they could email your 1999 info. I had downloaded the 2000 Horizon manual and spec sheets, so if you want an electronic copy of mine, then PM me with your email address.

There were two 4.3's offered:

4.3GL = 190hp (carb)
4.3GXi = 220hp (fuel injected)

Real world difference? 2mph, same GPH, and the GL never breaks. The GXi goes through fuel pumps like a boss. If you really want the extra 30hp, get a edelbrock 4bbl intake and holley performance 600cfm marine carb. Now same power, tons more reliable.

Then of course there was the 5.0GL, which was 220hp. It's a massive piece of dog turd. 220hp in 5.0 liters is pretty much as bad as it gets. Efficiency? What's that. You might as well pump gas overboard.

I am going to disagree with you here Ric. The 5.0 has more torque (what really matters getting it out of the hole) than your car'b 4.3 does. My boat does very well on gas and has been extremely reliable. Wouldn't take me much to improve the performance of my 5.0L either. I would choose the 5.0GL over the 4.3GL any day of the week.

Whichever motor it has OP, I wouldn't be concerned though. Good luck.

It does have more torque, it's a staple engine in budget cruisers. It's a non-vortec engine to get any real power you'll have to change head/cam/intake/carb. The 4.3 vortec has much more top end... so in an H190 if you're going to haul 8 people the 5.0 would be better, but if you're 2-3 people the 4.3 is better as you'll get a nice 50-55mph top end and sip gas on cruise. IF you wanna go-fastttttttt yeah get a 5.0GL boat and just drop a vortec 350 crate engine in :)
