Day one work has been completed....nice progress i think....enclosed barn will be 30' x 50'....the overhang to the right of the photo will be 30' x 15'. The large door is at the gable end and is 12' wide by 11' tall.....the smaller large door is centered under the overhand and will be 10' x 10'.....a walk thru door will be under the overhang also.

Support posts are on 10' centers - day two will be tomorrow and framing for roof, doors and overhang will be completed. Day three (Monday) will be concrete preparation and day four (Tuesday) is pour day. Wednesday and Thursday will be metal installation days and the barn will be completed....then my part starts (trenching for electrical and plumbing and all the stuff that goes with it).....still not sure on concrete epoxy....will get material estimate - may be too pricey.

Day 3,

The framing is complete, hurricane clips installed and all purlins are up. Today is concrete prep day - ground has been leveled, vapor barrier down, forms in place for entrance ramps and they now are tieing the rebar together....got a couple more pics to post. The flooring goes in tomorrow then building will be finished late Wednewday or Thursday.

Seems like much easier building when you don't have to worry about frost and the ground freezing. But then we don't have to worry about hurricanes.

Looking great so far.

"I think it's funny you guys up north put the wood in the earth then pour concrete."

I think its funny how someone in Florida thinks South Texas is "up north".....the structure is a wood frame pole barn....poles are set at 4' depth and concrete slab is a floating pad....the ground here is active and density flucuates with moisture. Basically the entire structure is supported by anchored poles and slab only supports what you park on it...like a driveway.

Structure is anchored better than merely using a ram set to nail base plate 2 x 4 s to a concrete slab....rated for 100 plus MPH wind supposedly but if winds got that high I would be surprised if house or barn remained.

I have another barn on property that is over 90 years old and has wood floor....has seen many of storm and holds 400 square bails upstairs.

Out of curiosity how do you build barns the in Florida? This is a common style for Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma of which none are locations I consider up north either.
