Interesting how most of the ski/wakeboard boat manufactures and their main engine manufacture are on the list.

Good observation MB. The new ski/wakeboard boats are a smaller segment, but show steady growth. The popularity of wakeboarding and the special details incorporated into these type boat, require good dealer knowledge of their product, and the builders feel it quite important to keep their customer's needs satisfied and their input into design as a very important part of their boat's designs and features. Not so much with some builders, who choose their designs more on what their designer "thinks" will be what customer's want.

Agreed! Even if a boater is not into ski/wakeboarding, you have to admire the innovation and quality in these boats.

Tige boats are the best designed/built/made boats I have ever seen in my life. They will let test them out, wake board behind them, wake surf behind them, whatever sport you're into before you purchase to make sure it's exactly what you want. They build whatever prop rotation you need if you're standard or goofy footed to get optimal wake for you. Oh, and they're probably more luxurious then any bowrider I've ever seen.

Oh, and you pay for it. Big time.

Seems every manufacturer of marine engines are on the list....hmmmm....and that includes inboard/I/o and ob.

Also interesting that just about entire Brunswick line made list....bayliner, sea ray and trophy.

Four Winns is not a participating member so now we know why they are never on this list.

The Marine Industry CSI Awards program honors participating manufacturers that actively measure customer satisfaction and pursue continuous improvement to better serve the customer. Award recipients achieved and maintained an independently-measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over the past year, based on information provided by customers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012.

Ooops, you must have missed it. FW is a participating member. You must look under Rec Boat Holdings, which is the parent company of Four Winns, Glastron and Wellcraft. All three brands have been a member for dozens of years.

WTF? You would think that if you blew the kind of $$$$ to buy a new boat in this market, your ass would be kissed. Bayliner makes it and FW doesn't? I can't recall the last time Four Winns was on this list.

If the company had a recent ownership transition/acquisition it typically do not make to this kind of list since they have formulas they use and kick these company out based on not enough business length (not as brand but as company)… See what will do for 2013… Rinker, Four Winns, Crownline and few others went thru transition did not make to the list …. I assume transition must be something to do with it.

Yep, very true sushi. But the re-org for all three of these companies you mentioned was not as recent as this past year. It was a couple of years ago. Same with Carver and Marquis, as they were also involved in the Genmar bankruptcy. If you look at the 2008-2009 CSI list, you will see many of these brands on the list, with the exception of Crownline, which was going through issues back then as well.

Still kind of puzzling why you don't see brands like, Bryant, Cobalt, Chris Craft, Cruiser's, and Stingray on this years' list, as there have been no re-org with any of these builders in recent history.

One thing I might ask, of those of you that have bought a new boat in the last year, did you receive a questionare/satisfaction survey from your boat builder in the mail after your purchase ? For reference, we did, along with a welcome packet of boating accessories sent direct from the factory, and not from our dealer. Of course our dealer also threw in some "goodies" with the purchase.

I'm really amazed Stingray isn't. They consider their warranty a suggestion, there's people on their forums with 5 year old boats that stingray fixes things no-charge. They even have an open chat with the people that make the boat if you have questions about repair or modification.

As with any survey or satisfaction measurement you have to take some of the customer feedback with a grain of salt to interpret the results.

In the auto industry there is good example. The Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix were designed by Toyota, built in the same factory and the only differences were some trim/styling differences, none mechanically. Some Toyota customers were highly satisfied even after taking their car to the dealer 5 or more times for warranty repairs. Some Pontiac customers were unsatisfied after taking their car to the dealer once for repairs. Sure, dealer/customer interaction had to affect some of the results but it does tell two things. There should have been no repair differences on average for either car and at the end of the day, customer perception, not actual number of repairs drove the differences.

Could be that the boat brands NOT on the list had a more "difficult" warranty process than the others, regardless of actual repairs required.

I have emailed the following inquiry to NMMA:
Quote:
I am inquiring on behalf of a Four Winns Users group:

We are surprised that FOUR WINNS was not one of the recipients of the 2012 CSI Awards for Customer Satisfaction. (Rec Boat Holding, LLC dba FOUR WINNS)

We would like to inquire the following for our curiosity, and to end speculation in our group:
What was FOUR WINNS Customer Satisfaction Index, and what is the cutoff to make the list?
Were there any other factors that would make FOUR WINNS ineligible?

Ray P

If they reply, I will post it back to this thread.
