Just got my 278 this Saturday. Everything seems to be working EXCEPT there is a fresh water leak (I'm gonna try to track that down next weekend), and the bilge pumps aren't working. I found the forward bilge under the floor in the "stateroom", but I'm not finding one anywhere in the engine compartment. Looked for a water line, looked for electrical wires, I see nothing.

Can someone chime in and help a newbie find his aft bilge pump?

Thanks!

I don't have a Vista but I bet it is under the engine in the engine compartment where you can't see it.

And the year of your 278 Vista is....... ?????
What does your owner's manual say ????

Single engine newer 278's it's under the engine, older model 278's with twins it's between the engines.

It's a 94 and I won't have my hands on the owners manual until next weekend.

Must be the rare big block single engine then ? Most had twin 5.0L V8's or 4.3L V6's.

Yes sir, it's a fuel injected 7.4 VP.

Mine's a '98 with twins and it's right in back of the fuel tank bulkhead and there's a glassed-in plywood block for mounting it. It's clearly visible (Not easy to get to when changing unless you can hang upside-down...LOL) when looking down in front of the engines.

Mine's a 95 and the pump is smack dab above the keel just to the aft of the fuel tank, with an external float switch.
