Well, our frige has been running non stop and it zaps a battery every time we stay over way from the dock. Its now 12 years old so I am starting to look around for options. Anyone replace one in a 258 vista? Do you like what you put in? How hard was the removal / install? who did you buy it from?
thanks -Blue

What brand fridge do you have? Norcold?

I replaced a fridge on our last boat. I bought the same size and brand (Iso-Therm). Bought it from Defender as they had the best price. It was just a matter of removing screws and trim, unplugging it, and pulling it out. Reverse for new fridge install. Took about 15 minutes and $800.

I haven't needed to replace mine yet, but removal is easy. Remove the trim (four screws) and pull it out (maybe pry a little if the cutout is tight), resting it on the floor just forward of the galley. Disconnect the DC connector and pull the AC plug from the outlet and it's free.

Before you discard it, you might try seeing if it just needs coolant. Although if that is the case there is certainly a leak, it might be slow enough to tolerate for another 13 years.

Thanks GT.
I think I will pull it out and see if a repair center can recharge it. Worth a shot.
Just winterized it and its in the barn. Perfect time to pull out the fridge.
