For all you Merc guys:

I was reading that you can add a second Mercathode controller to the system and double the amount of corrosion protection for the outdirve. Has anyone done this?

If I understand correctly, all you have to do is jumper the terminals of the second controller to the terminals on the first one? Just mount it piggyback on top of the other controller??

Yes I'd seen the mercstuff site. Great info on there.

I was hoping maybe someone had done this and maybe had a photo.
Hard to believe everyone with a Merc wouldn't do this considering it costs under $50 to double the corrosion protection.

It's just a band aid. Does not help with stray current at a marina, or from anothert boat.
A Zinc Saver system is what you really need. We had a system installed on both our 268 Vista and
our 282CR. Never had any corrosion issues or worries.

A Zinc Saver is just a Galvanic Isolator, correct? If so, then I already have one.

My drive has some paint flaking in spots and the beginnings of corrosion. I'm told that it looks very good for a boat that, as far as I know, has been kept in the water for 8 seasons.
Anyway I'm looking to touch up the flaking spots in the spring and make sure that the galvanic isolator and Mercathode systems are working correctly. Came across adding a second controller when searching for how to test the systems and figured it can't hurt. (probably the cheapest thing I've bought for the boat so far  )

I read it real quick, but yes I take it the same way. Its a galvanic isolator and with shore power, you better have it anyways.

I don't know by adding the Mercathode that it will give you double the protection? I am thinking more like 20 to 30% more. BUT for $50, I would use it anyways. Plus, it should take you under an hour to install, if not less.
