Yep. That part of the world came into wealth much to quickly, without developing their economy themselves, and the gangster dictators highjacked it. Need to cut off the oil money for the good of the world.

There's a difference between knowing it happened, and taking a minute to stop and consider all the things that were lost that day. And yes, based on the last two voting cycles, I'd say that about 51% of the US population has forgotten what really happened. Or, they're too young, self-centered, weak-minded, and indoctrinated to think anything except "we deserved it."

I will never forget how that day changed the lives of my fellow aviators, especially at United and American Airlines as they were in the front lines of the attack. I for one am very grateful for the remembrance of the loss and sacrifices we all went through that awful day.

I absolutely agree with an alternative fuel program to shut down the Middle-East. The free world should be doing everything in their power to accomplish this goal so that those filthy animalistic radical Muslims' economies' die on the vine and they just go back to killing each other like they have been doing for over 2,000 years. What is happening in Syria is what I want to see happening in all of the Middle-East. Nothing but a bunch of animals over there.

Yes Dic...that's what I intended...to insult those who were killed. Don't try and crabwalk out of your stupid comment by implying you were somehow defending their honor.

Now I understand....if you need the answer Ric, just ask me.

We need reminders for future generations so as not to repeat history.....whether it's airplanes flying into buildings, or some meglomaniac nazi exterminating millions of people.....we never forget! A yearly reminder is a good thing. I won't forget either, and remind myself often that I was almost there on that day, but a last minute change kept me from going into the city on that morning. I would have been exiting the subway at Chambers St.-- a couple blocks from WTC right at 8:45am.......when I think about my luck that day and how grateful I am for not having been there, or see people jump from the upper floors as a former co-worker saw, I am grateful. So, a yearly reminder is but a little thing in my opinion. So as we all are here and able to jump into our boats for a spin, let's not forget the many others who aren't...my .02

I must admit I thought Ric's post was at best inappropriate, at worst offensive, He's maybe young enough ( mentally, or in life) that he does not yet realise the magnitude of what happened to those people and their families on that day. Here in the UK, far remote from New York it was a very sobering experience to first hear of what happened on the car radio on the way home from work, then to see it on TV, Horrifying, it must never be forgotten and reminders for this and other atrocities should always be welcomed. If we are not reminded, if we choose to forget history and not to remember/ learn. , it will be repeated. ( in my opinion of course, I am seldom right now according to my 22 year old daughter !)

I agree with you. He needs a dope slap. Ric, by sayng "we will never forget" "Remember Pearl Harbor" (and more) it pulls us/the country to together as one.

It's like real simple, if you want to enjoy the great benefits of this nation, then you don't show disrespect. Those that show disrespect, and we know that happened right after the attacks, need a good old fashioned Brooklyn NY schoolin' as in a major bitch slap. Or as those who showed disrespect back in my childhood were told, you want to get your head handed to you...oh if only I didn't have to live, in this pansy a$$ politically correct world.....give me the 50s thank you very much...

My wife and I were at the top of the twin towers just a couple of days before they fell. We purchased a teapot in the shape of a big apple from the gift shop at the top of one of the towers. It has pride of place in a display cabinet in our kitchen and reminds us often of that sad day. Many Brits also lost their lives that day. RIP

My son was 4 when we suffered this trajedy....as a public servant it holds special meaning for brothers who were lost. We talk about it every year because its about more than remembering, its about appreciating.

If you have ever had the honor of standing by a family who has to bury a son, father, mother, or daughter who gave their life for someone else you would appreciate the sacrifice that much more.

This is a boating forum, but priorities prevail. When it comes down to it Ric you can take your prop preference, boat mods and ignorant comments and hit the road. I take your comment as disrespectful long distance coward statements. I assure you if you or anyone else said that in my or many others presence on this board you would be spitting chicklets. So if i bored you by starting this thread.....go to HELL!

Thanks for taking the words out of my mouth... Was trying to come up with a response, but every time I'd come up with something, it would become too emotionally charged, and wasn't pretty.. 343 of my brothers and sisters, for me, were instantly disrespected with his comment, not to mention the 1000's of members of our military.. Was just a shitty, uneducated, statement.. And I'll stop now, as, once again, my response degrades...
