Hello all , I am new to the board !!!

Question :
Does anyone know if a supercharger will do anything to help my
2007 Horizon 220SS?? I was told by our salesman when we bought the boat
that it really would not do much because the hull will not really
allow the boat to go much faster,,,,,, it is generally made to ride good in chop is what I was told... I find it hard to believe ...

Not that I am going out to get a supercharger, I am just curious if anyone has done it , or knows of any info of superchargers on my type of boat / body style ...
I have the 350 MPI / 300 HP engine - Bravo 1 ...

I would love to have a bit more speed out of our boat .. Currently it is running about
49 - 51 MPH on the GPS.. We do have a bunch of gear so if we were to lighten up I am guessing we can get 1 - 2 MPH more ... I think I would be happier above 60 MPH...

Just wondering ???? Any help / input on the subject ???

I think you had a pretty honest salesman. FW hulls are designed for comfort, all-around family use, and handling chop better than some others. Most FW models and power train packages are designed to top out at around 50-55mph. Of course you can play with props to achieve specific (and reasonable) goals like a bit more top end or better hole shot, but you aren't going to turn a 50mph boat into a 70mph boat without spending as much as the boat cost in the first place, and you probably still wouldn't be happy with it's overall performance. It's just the wrong kind of boat for that. Anyone who wants a GFBB would probably do well to choose something other than FW.

I think you should play with prop before you do anything to engine. For Bravo I, there are so many style and pitch of prop available so consult with some prop expert. Bravo I has less drag than Bravo III so you might be able to achieve upper 50s WOT. Downside will be you will give up little in hole shot.
As far as engine goes I would leave it alone…. Unlike cars, effect of investment to engine is very little to overall performance of the boat so you do not see too many people would do such a modification. Also anything you touch the engine will void warranty so act accordingly. But if you do please keep us update. Being car guy myself I love to see someone do it to a regular boat .

You've got a 350 mag and trying to blow it???? I think the 350 mag is putting out all it can at 300 ponies. You are about pegging out the compression, and doing everything the valve train can without floating at higher RPM (yeah, I'm a gear head too). If you want fast, get a tunnel hull. If you just want to pick up a few MPH or have a better hole shot, change the prop....

As far as top end... I can just tickle 60 mph, and that's running empty, 6.2 (320 hp) B1 on a 210SS. By re-proping, your not likely to change your top end by more than about 4-5 mph before you lose RPM anyway.

Otherwise you'll be putting plenty of money into it.... just enjoy it every day you can!

I've already figured it will cost me about $250 per run hour based on payments, gas, maint, etc. I don't plan on spending more than I have to, or any less time on the water than possible.

Good website Walt, I haven't played around with props yet, I'd be curious what other props guys are using on the H210, I want more top end as opposed to holeshot.

Once I hit my 10 hour break-in, I'll start playing around and let you know. Supposedly I had a 19 on when I hit 59 mph at 5200 rpm. That's with the 1.65:1 rear end. It doesn't fit into the calc very well, so.... more to come!

My goal is always to get the best possible hole shot, yet still not over-rev at WOT.

I do agree that I would rather be boating than wrenching...
We do not plan on doing anything to the boat , I was really just curious ...
The boat sure does handle well...

We figure if we want a boat that goes fast , it would be a wiser decision
to let this one go and look for a boat that is more geared towards that...

We love our boat for now , wish she had a bit more top end...
I will work on doing some research on the prop to see what would be best for us.
Where can I find out what gear we have in our Bravo 1 ??? I looked in all the paperowrk and can not find this ?? Would I have to call the factory or dealer to get this info ??

This should actually be stamped on the outdrive. Take a look at Merc's website to see the possible choices.

Mine says it's the 1.65

I would expect you able to hit 55 mph WOT with your set up, but probably not 60. Either way that's DAMN FAST on the water.

Walt , ours is only hitting 48 GPS 49/50 on the speedo...
I will say we do have a bunch of gear .. 2 amplifiers, 2 batteries, 3 subwoofers.

Would still think we could hit 53-55 Mph ...
We still have 300 rpm left before we got to max revs , so maybe we can play around with the prop a bit ...

Are you running a 4-blade prop? Are you trimming your drive properly for best performance? Your not hitting WOT RPM, so you may need to lower your pitch about 1 inch to get there. The weight in electronics and Batt's don't even equate to one passenger. I agree you should be able to get in the mid 50's with your boat.... it's only a foot longer than mine, and couldn't weigh that much more.

I can not remember how many blades , it is the stock prop that came with the boat .. Yes we have adjusted the trim to get the best performance .. Maybe worth a dyno run at the dealer ?? See whatthey have to say ...

Boat Dyno??? Just get the details on the prop/drive, then tweek. I would expect you have a three bladed 19P Stainless prop. That's what seems to be coming on every boat these days. If you say you're only hitting about 4900 RPM, and you've run a few tanks of gas through it, then drop the prop pitch 1 or 2"... no more than that. How's the hole shot fully loaded?

First thing is Check to see what you have..... If the dealer let you out the door with a 23" prop, then we've found the problem, and can solve it. It could be a stretched throttle cable, or clogged fuel filter as well.

I just ran your numbers through the prop slip calc.... Looks like you have the 1.65:1 and a 19P Stainless. If that's the case, you should be able to hit 52 mph at WOT on the 19P and 57 mph using the 21P.

Keep me informed.... Once my break in is done, I'll be looking at re-propping.
