This summer we took an amazing 16 day trip on the Trent-Severn. Day 1 began in Oakville and was a 75 mile run down the shoreline to Cobourg - the next day we entered the Murry Canal, which is the official entrance to the Trent-Severn system. We completed 42 locks in total, traveling 347 miles, clocking 37 hours of engine time while burning through ~325 gallons of fuel. We had the boat trucked home from Port Severn back to Oakville. Here a few (too many) pictures from the trip. We spent our nights on lock walls, most of which do not have power and sometimes in marinas. We also took a 2 day 'vacation from our vacation' and stayed at a cottage resort on Stony Lake.

The kids operating the modernized lock, which is electrically operated w/hydraulic cylinders.

Locks 11 and 12 are a flight lock (48' lift)

The family holding the lines as the lock fills.

Peterborough Lift Lock - Very cool design, this is the highest hydraulic boat lift in the world (65' lift). Basically 2 large bath tubs on hydraulic rams.

Loaded up for all kinds of fun - riding 1" above the bottom paint!

Beautiful still morning

Alone on the lock wall for the night

Tightest fit yet - 1/4" on one side and 3/8" on the other at the stern, with no fenders back there.

Some of the locks still let the kids open and close the lock doors.

Best place to stop on the entire system. Particularly after a very rough Simcoe crossing. The Waubic Inn, boat access only. Stop there if you are ever in the Trent, north of Lake Simcoe.

Final night at Starport Marina (upper) in Port Severn. Crazy good service at this place.
