Installed a bunch of new lighting in my house. All the fixtures were nasty 1980's cheap bronze crap and the metal finish was all falling off. Even though I'm renting, screw it I deserve to feel comfortable. I've been trying to buy a house for a year now and can't seem to get a hold on one the market is insane around here. I've been renting this house since 2007 and the owner lives in Miami and doesn't care at all about the place. Unless it's broken, it's not getting fixed. Any cosmetic repairs I do I don't get reimbursed, but it's never felt like a home to me and I can't take it anymore. If I don't buy a house by April I'm going to redo the countertops. I make good money it's a beautiful townhome on a lake and I want friends/family/girls to come over and hang out in my nice house.. not step inside and look at the 1980's falling apart.
The kitchen had a tiny fan in the middle of it, in which all it did was collect greasy cooking smoke and make a mess on the blades/ceiling. The hallway lights were missing their glass covers. The dining room chandler only maybe 3 out of the 6 lights worked and it was NASTY, and the stairway light was even worse. $100 at Lowes for their cheapest contractor lights (in brushed nickel) made a HUUUUUUGEEEEE upgrade on how my house looks. Here's a pic of the stairway. It's a blue glass pendant light. $30 bucks! It was scary as shit putting that in, my ladder is only 5'10 and it's carpet flooring. A buddy held the ladder and I'm on my tippy toes swapping it out. Glad that's over.
