Yes it does look like a backyard job of glassing, which really hurts because all the finishing touches look good, only parts that take serious effort to get to show the true crap production job.

Vic I would investigate further if the area around the bolt was soft, that was the first tell tale that the stringers were stuffed in mine - the engine room centre support post was not solid so we unbolted and basically the holes had never even been sealed and were rotted out.

Steve the survey was done on the gold coast by a bloke with the surname "Pope", I still don't think he would have picked it up or even would have been looking for this sort of decay in the hidden places that it started. Seriously you would need to be a contortioist to get to it with the motors in. It was a 2 year old boat when the survey was done....

It was just made wrong.....I emailed the new photos to the President of Four winns and the manager of warranty department and as with the last email no response....They don't give a toss.

Wish I lived near by so I could go and sit in front of them and show the pictures personally to them - and see and hear their responses.....any company with any sort of moral code would be interested in making sure my boat was a one off and putting it back to the standard it should be...... Maybe their silence is fear of finding other boats in such a dangerous condition at this age !

Don't send e-mail. Send FedEx or registered (someone signs for it) postal mail.

E-mail gets lost in the sheer volume of junk and spam. I know most e-mails I've asked about take at least 3 days for a reply (if it's just a 'we got it, hang on' response). But for matters of this seriousness you want to put physical letters and photos in their hands, not just electronic bits.

Yes, you have a problem on your hands. One that may or may not have anything to do with the boat's original construction. But you may have to face the facts that an out of warranty boat, now on it's third owner, may well be outside the responsibility of anyone other than you. There are some bitter and expensive lessons learned in life. This unfortunately appears to be headed in that direction.

Thanks Bill, good idea on sending registered, will do that today.

I don't agree mind you on the warranty, whether I am the 10th owner or third they should at least look at it.... this damage began years ago well within warranty. It has just turned five.

I have had lots of lessons in life and have taught a few as well, one I always preach is simply moral and ethical responsibility for your actions/product, and in this situation Four Winns have shown none so far.

Has anyone had a chance to take photos of the engine bulkhead starboard side under the genset yet at all.

I am getting a survey organised and would like to supply photo's of the correctly manufactured version.

Cheers
Brett

Thanks Michael they are great, your boat definately looks more finished than mine !!!

I know I am asking alot, but... if you are back on board again would you be able to shoot from under the genset forward to the bulk head. I think that is where the problem began with the aircond water. I not possible no worries.

I have had a good long chat with a survey bloke and a couple of good lawyer's so far...I am going to have a crack...

They have started fixing it .... work so far $21,000.......no where near finished..

Joe enjoy the holiday, if you work out how to send them that would be great. Maybe you could send straight from you mobile (cell) to mine....I will PM my number.

Cheers
Brett

Hello

Just a quick question has any member ever gone down the legal trail on this sort of thing.

I had a couple of interesting chats with Lawyers today that seem to think if the boat was made wrong in the start (my view) I would have a very strong case to have Four Winns repair it whether or not I met the warranty conditions.

I am going to investigate further, will keep you upto date.

Cheers
Brett

I think lawsuit might get their attention and want them to settle.. Find a lawyer that is a real dick and does not like to talk a lot and run up your bill...and who will pile on the amount of money you are asking for.... Probably near where corporate office is and or someone that has sued them before.

Actually you might write a letter and see if you can get other Four Winns owners to sign it....start to make it a little PR problem for them.

I have this exact boat, we should all check our boats and report back and keep this thread updated.

Yes it has to be fixed, at the moment it's sitting in dry doc costing A$65 per day while I'm trying to work out just how far I need to rip out.

It still really gets to me that it only 5 years old and the reason I bought it in 2006 was because I wanted a fairly new boat I could own fo ten years or so and not have to do much more than annual maintainence.

I am still going to give to FW to try and get a decent contribution toward these repair, storage and refit costs....my lawyer thinks I have a very good chance but they always say that !!

The worst part is sitting here looking at the weather - middle of winter 5 kn breeze ocean glassed out 80 degrees outside and water temp of 75 - should be out using the bloody thing !!!

Thanks again Lou for your comments, very helpful..

Cheers
Brett.

$65 PER DAY? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
