Hi All, it looks like everyone is a little busy....

I went out on the boat on the Weekend, we found a new bombie thats pretty good to snorkle around. I have busted my Olympus Camera so no photos. As it turns out they are only water proof to 3m so note to self... dont lapse and swim any deeper!!!

I have started to look for a new one and $500 dollars will buy me one that takes me to 10m. Thats probably the limit of my free dive photography limit anyway. They are going to charge $380 to fix the camera, does that sound like a rought or what!!!

I am looking for an under water camera, if anyone knows of some good brands, we are a little lazy to put them in an underwater case however i would like one that can do both as i will be getting into Scuba this year and we will naturally be diving to 40m eventually.

Hi All

Just came back from 3 Days at Chifley Dam (Bathurst), Had a great time, a lot of algae in the water, it was funny looking back at a green wake, the kids didn't want to get in the water at first claiming the algae "was gross" but once the tubes were hooked up they changed their minds.

Spent all day today washing and polishing before putting her to bed for the winter. Can't wait for October when I wake her up.

Some photos of your green wake would have been nice?

Hi Conner - I was at Ben Chifley earlier on this season and it was great - just a tiny bit of algae near the old small boat ramp, the rest was clear. It's a great place to spend a day or the weekend isn't it? Nice thing for me is that it is fresh water so no flushing the motor out for a change - it's one of the few non salt water places I go to.

G'day guys - soon to be Four Winns owner here. We live in Mordialloc in Melbourne, we have a boat ramp at the end of our street so there's no excuse is there?

Got our eyes on the H180LE - just got to do the "will it fit in the garage test". It does on paper, the dealer has said they'll bring it round to our house to make sure it fits - that'll get the neighbours talking!

We hope to be able to order the boat and have it delivered by around September. Would be great to hear from any other Four Winns owners in Melbourne.

Cheers

JB

Biggest problem I had was the height of the windscreen on the trailer... pretty close. For the 180LE, height on trailer w/Wakeboard tower down is 6'2" or 1.88 m. Get the tape measure out!

Clearance will also depend on your driveway being uphill, level, or downhill and the ball height of what you are towing it with. I have an uphill driveway and a Ford Territory and it just sneaks in with an inch to spare.

BTW, I often launch at Patterson River, or if the wind is from the north, the Warmies at Newport. Maybe will catch up with you there one day. Any questions about owning a FW in Melb - drop me a line!

Thanks mate - I measured the height of the boat on the trailer and it seemed to be just under 2m - I have a garage which is 2.1m clear although I also have a slight uphill slope - the dealer bringing it round to try and fit it in will be the acid test. I tow with a Pathfinder which has a fairly high towball.

btw, JV Marine is planning on supplying me with a slightly shorter Dunbier trailer than the standard package to help me get it in the garage - the only downside to this is that there is no space on the trailer for the spare which is not really a major. So long as its long enough for towing round corners I don't care!

Thanks for the response.

JB

My standard FW trailer has the fold-away tongue so fits in the garage easily length wise. If you got 2.1m of height, it's plenty! If the driveway is uphill, it will give you even more clearance.

Hi, H190 owner here. New to the forum. I am based in Brisbane. We've taken the boat on Somerset lake, but would like to take the family for a day trip somewhere on Morton Bay. Does anyone have suggestions for a nice trip. Nothing too far, as I want to introduce the family to the bay.

Welcome to the site!

Last time I was on Moreton Bay I went for a lovely cruise to an artificial reef just off Moreton Island and did some nice diving, lots of people fishing there too.

It's a great spot.

Hi there BrisWinn, and welcome to the Forum!
I live at Tweed Heads and often go cruising up the Broadwater and there are some great spots up there for cruising, swimming and picnics etc, I have been across Morton Bay to Tangalooma and the shipwreck when I had an 18footer with an outboard and lucky for us it was a calm day, because it is a long way across and the weather can change rapidly, I certainly would NOT recomend it for the inexperienced, saying that, I have no idea of your experience or family situation, but a H190 is not a big boat and Somerset is far far different to Morton Bay.
If you like that area you can travel from Brisbane down the west side of Russell island past Cabbage tree point and back up the Eastern side of Russell island past Slipping Sands and that would give you a full loop without seeing the same place twice, and its nice and protected, if you have kids they will love to have a slide down slipping sands, if you like water skiing then the only opportunity would be east of Russell Isle.
We mainly use the Broadwater for cruising and leave our skiing for Tweed River.
Hope thats been some help, Cheers Clarke!

Thanks Clarke and JB for the advice. I'll plan a trip around the Gold Coast Broadwater and Russell Island. Our kids are young, so I'll take your advice Clarke and leave the Tangalooma trip for later. We had a ski boat previously, which didn't get used during Winter, but with the Four Winns, I'm hoping we get more use, with day drips around the bay.

Welcome from another Brisbane "FourWinner". We boat a lot out of Jacob's Well into southerm Moreton Bay. The ramp there is wide and there is a great dock. In Winter also agood run from Nudgee Beach ramp to Tangalooma. Never felt unsafe in my 220. All the best.

OK guys - it's officially spring now... so when are you planning to get out next? This weekends weather forecast here in Melbourne looks pretty poor (windy with rain), so probably out of the question for me. Maybe the next weekend.... :( Can't wait to get out on the bay again...
