The 110 outlets at my cockpit entertainment center (whatever you call it) don't work. Any ideas? Nothing is tripped (including the little button on the outlet) and the power on the panel is switched to on. In fact, I turned every switch on the panel to the on position just to make sure. All of the other outlets work, it's just the cockpits ones that don't get any juice. Any ideas? It's a 2001 Vista 298.

Does the "little button" (the GFI test) actually trip when you press it and reset when you press the reset button or do they both just feel springy?

Does your boat have a cockpit fridge or icemaker?

The actual GFI outlet may be faulty. I had to replace mine shortly after I got the boat. Have not had any trouble since.

I have a 2000 298V with an ice maker. Open the freezer door and you will see a small hole where the base of the freezer door meets the ice maker. In that cut out is a horizontal switch that will turn your freezer on and off. Switch it and see what happens just in case they have it wired incorrectly. The other idea is to check your battery switches that are directly aft of the freezer/fridge. Make sure that the two vertial switches that are to the right of your battery switches are in the up position. I know one of the switches will shut off the windlass but maybe the other one controls the outlet in question. Good luck and let us know the issue.

P.S. Are you sure you have the "outlets" and "ice maker" switch is in the on position?

The outlet felt springy now that I think about it. I replaced it with a new one shortly after posting this question but it's still not working. I'll have to go back down to the boat (hopefully today if I can find the time) and check the button on the new one to see if it trips or feels springy. I don't recall 100% offhand but I think it was still springy vs. actually tripping.

And to answer the other question, we have a cockpit fridge.

To the final question regarding switch position....I actually flipped all switches on the master panel to the on position but still no juice. However, I did not look for the little switch underneath that you mentioned. If I can get down there today I'll look for that.

Thanks for all of the replies. Hopefully this is something simple and nothing requiring a marine electrician and much $$$$. It's not essential that the outlet works, but it's nice if if does.

Just checked the new outlet....the buttons are springy and don't click into place.

I am assuming you checked this receptacle's wiring with a voltage meter before you disconnected the old and installed the new? I atleast hope that you weren't running a genset or hooked up to your shore power... It could be connected to a different circuit that you may not have turned off. I think you will have to try and trace the wire back to the main panel. You'll either find a junction that hasn't been connected or this outlets wiring has not been connected at the panel.

You assume correctly on all counts....checked before swapping the outlets and was totally disconnected from all power sources when I made the swap. This may turn into a winter project

my 298 is the same, the cockpit outlet near the fridge was wired to the ice maker breaker. Another thing I noticed is there is an outlet inside the compartment that the garbage can goes to and they may be wired in parallel so possibly there is a GFI in there that needs to be reset?
