I notice I am a little late to the thread......
We have stored our boats outside, as well as indoor heated, and the last 2 winters have shrunk wrapped. Have use tarps in the past, if the wind blows tarp around at all and you will have scratched gelcoat!!! Not worth it to save a buck.....IMHO Shrink wrap fits tight, no flapping in the wind to chafe finish.
Like others have posted, I got all the stuff to do it myself, I get 2 seasons out of a cover (carefully remove in the spring to reuse next winter). It takes a little extra care to wrap it each season, but helps spreads the cost. The shrink wrap has UV protection that will last 12 months, so I figure thats 2 winters. Jet skis use a small piece, so I use new wrap each year.
With boat, added zipper door so I can crawl in and work or check on things while covered
Goto
http://www.Dr-shrink.com, you will get all the info you will need for wrapping. Good guys!
I went with Blue for it to warm in the sun and melt snow. Which it does, but on warm days it does get very warm underneath. I used such a pitch with the framework under shrinkwrap that snow slides off before it can get 1/2" depth. I will go with white shrink wrap from now on to keep temps inside on warm days a little cooler.
