+1 Miami tomorrow 90 degrees. I have the highest respect for boaters from up North they are hardcore! You have to really love boating if you can't jump in the boat 12 months out of the year but you still dive into the lifestyle and you put up with the hassle and expense to get out on the water.

It's September and the fun is still going on like it's June. I couldn't imagine putting my boat away I would die.

Just shrink wrapped my boat yesterday. I went halves on the gun, doors, vents and wrap with my old man (he has a similar size boat). Start up cost was about $700, now all we do is split a roll of shrink wrap and a propane tank. Vents keep it dry and door is easy access to do small projects off season. We re-use the doors and vents each year...

Thanks for all the advice, shrink wrap it is then. I wish I could find indoor storage for $1300, heck I can't find outdoor storage for that much.

Heated indoor storage here cost me $7/sq ft. I can get non heated storage for $550 for season (November 1st to April 30th) Winterizing will cost me $349 for the inboard/outboard with an oil change, and another $40 for the fresh water and head pump out.

Last winter I used a cover made by Transhield after someone on this site recommended it. The cover was 140.00 shipped and fit our 268 nicely. The material is real thick, has a soft inner liner, an can be used multiple seasons. You can shrink it just like shrink wrap but we chose not to and it didn't budge all winter. It also has a large draw cord at the bottom with loops along the sides for tying off under the boat. Might be a good option for someone.

I think I'm going to switch this year to shrink wrap. I pay about $400 for an indoor storage spot. This year I'm going to pay $200 to wrap it and it'll sit outside all winter.

Any other thoughts/advice on it being outside? It'll probably be buried in a snow drift most of the winter based on where it'll be but I'm thinking it should be okay.

I notice I am a little late to the thread......

We have stored our boats outside, as well as indoor heated, and the last 2 winters have shrunk wrapped. Have use tarps in the past, if the wind blows tarp around at all and you will have scratched gelcoat!!! Not worth it to save a buck.....IMHO Shrink wrap fits tight, no flapping in the wind to chafe finish.

Like others have posted, I got all the stuff to do it myself, I get 2 seasons out of a cover (carefully remove in the spring to reuse next winter). It takes a little extra care to wrap it each season, but helps spreads the cost. The shrink wrap has UV protection that will last 12 months, so I figure thats 2 winters. Jet skis use a small piece, so I use new wrap each year.

With boat, added zipper door so I can crawl in and work or check on things while covered

Goto http://www.Dr-shrink.com, you will get all the info you will need for wrapping. Good guys!

I went with Blue for it to warm in the sun and melt snow. Which it does, but on warm days it does get very warm underneath. I used such a pitch with the framework under shrinkwrap that snow slides off before it can get 1/2" depth. I will go with white shrink wrap from now on to keep temps inside on warm days a little cooler.

+1....
Was informed by Dr. Shrink I won a roll of shrink wrap 24 x 85 6 mil! I usually get 2 seasons (or 2 boats) out of a roll so I'm set for next year! Yahoo!

Didn't even know I signed up for the drawing!
